Queen, Walter Hugh

Technical Sergeant Walter Hugh Queen.

412nd Bomber Squadron, 95th Bomber Group (Heavy).

 

Walter was born on 1 June 1910 in Ventura County, California.

Father, Hugh Sylvester Queen.

Mother, Gertrude (Peterson) Queen.

Sister, Dora Ann Queen.

Brother, Robert Marion Queen.

 

Walter entered  the Service from San Francisco, California in March 3, 1942 with service number # 19083172.

 

Walter H. Queen was a Left Waist Gunner in the 412nd Bomber Squadron.

 

Walter‘s crew-members and their position on-board the plane a B-17 were,

2nd Lt.      John C. Burdick          Co Pilot

1st Lt.       John G. Nelson           Navigator

2nd Lt.      Robert D. Wing           Bombardier

T/Sgt.       Walter H. Queen         Left Waist Gunner

 

Walter was KIA when number 2 engine was on fire, shot by Enemy Fighters, the plane blew up and crashed a west from Germany in the North Sea, on Oct. 9, 1943 he is he is honored with an Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

And he is buried at Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial, Coton,
South Cambridgeshire District, Cambridgeshire, England.
