Gordon was KIA on the Mission when his position was hit by Gunfire/FLAK, he was the only crewmember that died on the flight on 13 January 1945, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Gordon is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
