Lee was KIA  when the ship got hit by a Kamikaze Plane off the Okinawa Coast, on May 3, 1945, he is honored with a  Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

 

Lee is buried/mentioned at Honolulu Memorial Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
