Stanley was KIA when the USS Underhill was Sunk by a Japanese Kaiten (suicide torpedo) on , July 24, 1945  is honored with a  Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

 

Stanley is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial  Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
