Roy was KIA because the Sub (probably) sunk by a depth charge attack from a Japanese Destroyer on Feb. 29, 1944, Fireman Second Class Roy E. Abbott is honored with a  Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Combat Patrol Submarine Insignia, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

 

Roy is buried/mentioned at Honolulu Memorial Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
