Harold died when a kamikaze crashed into USS Borie‘s superstructure between the mast and the 5-inch gun director, causing extensive damage, killing 48 men, and wounding 66, on Aug. 9, 1945, he is honored with a Combat Action Ribbon, Asian-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Harold is buried/mentioned at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu County, Hawaii U.S.A.
