Milledge was KIA during the Naval Battle of Guadacanal when the USS South Dakota was hit 26 time’s , on June 6, 1944, he is honored with a  Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

 

Milledge is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial  Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
