James entered  the service from California with service number # 8793943.

 

James was Killed in Action when the Sub was sunk by a mine off the Tokyo Bay coast, on Nov 16, 1944, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

James is buried/mentioned at Honolulu Memorial Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
