William was KIA/MIA when his plane either had a malfunction or the Pilot suffered a physical problem so crashed in the English Channel on Sept. 14, 1943, he is honored with an Air Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

Willam is buried/mentioned at Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial, Coton, South Cambridgeshire District, Cambridgeshire, England.

MILITARY | FIRST LIEUTENANT | FIGHTER PILOT | 352ND FIGHTER GROUP

Killed in Action (KIA) in P-47D 42-22531 352FG/328FS. The aircraft either had mechanical failure or the pilot was suffering from Anoxia and crashed into the English Channel 50 miles east of the Blackwater Estuary, UK. 1 KIA MACR 562.
