Joseph was KIA when his Tank took a Direct Hit at Grosshau, Germany in the Battle for the Hürtgen Forrest on November 25, 1944, he is honored with a Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Joseph is buried/mentioned at Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial, Margraten, Eijsden-Margraten Municipality, Limburg, Netherlands.
