Alfred was born on Oct. 5, 1912 in Yorktown, Dewitt County, Texas.

Father, George William Afferbach.

Mother, Helena L. (Borchardt) Afferbach.

Sisters, Martha Elizabeth and Meta Olivia Afferbach.

Brothers, Henry Gottfried, William August, Ernest Herman and Otto C. E. Affelbach.

 

Alfred enlisted the Army in Ft. Sam Houston, Texas on March 18, 1942 with service number # 38093360.

 

Alfred’s rank/duty was a Technician Fifth Grade in the 473rd Infantry Regiment.

 

Alfred died non battle during the Transport to Port Lyautey, North Africa when the plane got Engine Trouble, both got on fire and they tried to make a landng in the Tyrrhenian Sea, the sea was to rough and demolished the plane, on Aug. 1 , 1945, he is honored with a Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal.
