Gordon was born approx. on Jan. 17, 1917 in Burke County, North Carolina.

Father, James Gordon Queen.

Mother, Fannie Lavender (Shuping) Queen.

Sisters, Virginia Carlotta, Frances Shuping and Bessie Josephine Queen.

 

Gordon entered  the service from Morganton, North Carolina in Sep. 16, 1940 with service number # 20412227.

 

Gordon B. Queen was a Captain in the (Head Quarters) 305th Engineer Combat Battalion.

 

Gordon was KIA in the fights with the Germans in the town off Dieulouard, France on Oct 12, 1944, he is honored with the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Combat infantry Badge, Marksmanship Badge, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Gordon is buried/mentioned at Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-Avold, Departement de la Moselle, Lorraine, France.
