Tarpey Timothy Nicholas

Name and Rank, Second Lieutenant Timothy Nicolas Tarpey.

Timothy was born approx. on July 16, 1919 in Passaic County, New Jersey.

Father, Timothy F. Tarpey.

Mother, Catherine Elizabeth (Cosker) Tarpey.

Sisters, Elenor and Ellen H. Tarpey.

Brothers, John and Joseph Tarpey.

 

Timothy entered  the Service from New Jersey with service number # O-696273.

Timothy was KIA when his plane crashed near Erichshagen, Germany  after being attacked by enemy aircraft, on May 19, 1944, and he is honored with the Air Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Timothy is was buried at Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial, Margraten, Eijsden-Margraten Municipality, Limburg, Netherlands.

Walls of the missing.

When an individual’s remains have been accounted for by the U.S. Department of Defense, a rosette is placed next to the name on the Wall/Tablet/Court of the Missing to mark that the person now rests in a known gravesite.

 

His remains are recovered in 2002 and he is on November 18, 2002 buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
